The ERPO was signed by Judge Herriott after hearing testimony from the Petitioner, Kathleen Ann Dundom-Garrett via telephone for about 15 minutes. Carl attended via video, but was not allowed to speak.

The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office personally served Carl at his residence in Redmond on January 22.

There’s a hearing scheduled for March 10.

According to the Oregon Judicial Department,

“Extreme Risk Protection Order (ERPO) is a court order that prevents a person who is at risk of hurting another person or committing suicide from having or getting deadly weapons, including firearms.

Respondents who are subject to these orders must give all their deadly weapons and their concealed handgun license to a law enforcement agency, gun dealer, or someone else who can lawfully hold them within 24 hours. Respondents are not allowed to posses weapons until the order expires or is cancelled (‘terminated or dismissed’) by a judge. The court will tell Respondents how to surrender their weapons if order is granted.”

Ms. Dundom-Garrett sat down with Ranch Matters (RM) and explained why she filed the ERPO against William Carl along with some additional background/ history.

Dundom-Garrett further explained she’s has a long history with William and that she’s a “Victim of Domestic Violence that’s part of a cycle and was encouraged by the Deschutes County Victims Advocate to file the Order.”

“What triggered it, is what came out of William’s mouth, which was, I’m going to put a bullet in my head or anyone else that’s going to prosecute me or try to take me down.
