Sheriff Pollock: “I know there are some concerns about whether we’re out here, how much we’re out here-I am trying to get as many deputies out here to patrol this area as possible.”

“Crooked River Ranch is not the problem. Most of the surrounding areas of Madras that are within Jefferson County are the problem. Most of the calls we get are outside of the Ranch.”

POLICE RESOURCES AVAILABLE

Supervisors: Sheriff Pollock, a lieutenant, one sergeant and two corporals for patrol activities.

The two corporal are “in charge of two different teams and are on opposite sides of the week. They work four 12 hour shifts, four on and four off. Typically there should be anywhere from three to four people per team...”

Total deputies dedicated to patrolling Jefferson County: “Eight including the corporals.”

Total detectives: “Three”

Pollock’s GOAL: “Add to patrol and add to the detective team as well. My ultimate goal is to have four detectives...”

 

“In a perfect world, I would love to have 14 patrol deputies... Deputies and law enforcement in general is expensive.”

 

“The number I’m about to give you, might be shocking, because this includes wages, benefits, and this also includes the car, their uniforms, their gun, their radio-anyone want to take a guess on how much this costs, the radio? Ten Thousand Dollars.”

“Total number, for one deputy, for all that stuff, cars, radios, uniforms, wages and benefits is TWO HUNDRED FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS.”
