Death Investigation – SW Bear Drive / Hwy 361 Madras

On Thursday, May 7, 2020 at about 3:06 p.m. a person called 911 and reported that they believed they had found a body at a location on SW Bear Drive, Madras, Oregon. Deputies responded to the scene, making contact with the reporting person at about 3:15 p.m.. Unidentified human remains were located. The deputies secured the scene and notified a supervisor. The Central Oregon Major Incident Team was called to the scene to assist the Sheriff’s Office and District Attorney with the death investigation. The human remains were removed from the property, transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office and an autopsy was performed. Results of the autopsy and manner of death are not being made public at this time. The identity of the human remains is still under investigation. Detectives of the Major Incident Team continue their investigation. Please be patient with us as we thoroughly investigate this death. We can’t release details of the investigation because we want to maintain the integrity of the information we are gathering. Several persons of interest and numerous witnesses are being interviewed.
