“NO SAY-JUST PAY”

.

In last weeks story, “UNDER THE RADAR”, Ranch Matters (RM) reported that Portland General Electric (PGE) scheduled a NON-PUBLIC MEETING for Friday, August 23, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. to discuss the property tax refund/payback matter.

.

The information provided at the time stated in part: “PGE is requesting that the meeting not be a ‘public meeting’ so we ask it to be limited to members of governing bodies (but not a quorum of any governing body) and taxing district staff...”

.

Several concerned citizens told us they felt slighted by PGE’s request to exclude the public and wanted to remind the government bodies-“invitees”, that they’re the ones stuck with this costly refund and should have some say.

.

We reached out to Jefferson County Administrator, Jeff Rasmussen and asked: “Will the Press be allowed to attend the invitation only meeting Friday, 8/23? Would like to sit in.”

Rasmussen responded: “Thanks for the inquiry. It is not a public meeting, so invitees only.”

.
.

CRR Special Road District Chairman, Lynn Breeden is one of the “invitees” and stated:

“PGE and the County has instigated a meeting this Friday at 9:00 a.m. at the Annex (In Madras).

The public’s not invited. It’s invites only, that worries me a little bit because ultimately you’re the ones that’s going to pay this bill...”

Breeden: “In my opinion, the process to date lacks sufficient information, details and facts. Hopefully, Friday’s meeting will shed some light on this costly mistake.”

“It It bothers me that the real victims-the taxpayers, have been excluded from the meeting, the process and have no say, but ultimately will have to pay the bill.

NO SAY-JUST PAY!”
