HOT TOPIC

Jefferson County Commissioner Seth Taylor attended last night’s (02/17/25), Ranch Board of Directors meeting.

This was newly elected Commissioner Taylor’s first visit to the Ranch after his recent victory.

After introducing himself and explaining his desire to understand the needs of the Ranch residents, Taylor fielded several questions from the audience.

One hot topic dealt with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office presence on the Ranch, speeding, abandon cars and jurisdictional matters to name a few.

The abandon cars discussion took center stage and there was a lot of questions and confusion over when and how alleged abandon cars can be tagged, towed and by whom.

Several in the audience commented on one particular abandon cars example on Mustang Road. The feeling being that something must be done immediately to remedy the problem.

Commissioner Taylor stated he would contact Sheriff Jason Pollock regarding the abandon cars situation along with the other concerns covered.

Ranch Matters contacted and interviewed Sheriff Pollock earlier today regarding the above issues and plan on publishing the story later. We also invited Sheriff Pollock to attend our next Board meeting scheduled for March 17th.

Additionally, we talked with Star, the confirmed owner of the subject cars this afternoon. Star confirmed the subject vehicles belong to her, are not registered, not insured and the tags are expired.

However, she plans on keeping them and doesn’t want the Sheriff’s Office to tow them.

While talking with Star I pointed out that the vehicles had a Sheriff’s NOTICE posted on their windshields dated 2/18/25, with a warning to have them removed by 2/20/25. Star is hopeful she can comply by the prescribed date and promised to clean up the adjacent area.
