“BEEN ON THE BACK BURNER FOR A LONG TIME”

CRR ATV ORDINANCE

Today, for about 30 minutes, the Jefferson County Board of Commissioners discussed the Crooked River Ranch ATV Ordinance. The discussion included input from Jefferson County Sheriff, Jason Pollock, County Counsel, Alexa Gassner, County Public Works Director, Matt Powlison and County Administrative Officer, Jeff Rasmussen. No public input allowed at this meeting.

Commissioner Seth Taylor kicked off the discussion by stating: “This is something that’s been on the back burner for a long time it seems like…” Commissioner Taylor explained that the Ordinance was a collaborative effort on the part of Sheriff Pollock and County Counsel Ms.Gassner.

County Counsel Gassner and Sheriff Pollock explained the complexities of the Ordinance and the various legal ramifications implementing it.

The discussion incorporated a one vs two year trial period with a possible sunset clause added, giving the Sheriff time to monitor the program’s effectiveness.

The Commissioners talked about the HOA and SRD’s position and plan on accessing more information from them prior to holding a meeting on the Ranch July 9th for public comments.

FOR THE RECORD, Ranch Matters spoke during Citizen Comments regarding Ranch President Kari Vickery’s undated letter opposing the Ordinance.

A copy of her letter was submitted for their file along with a brief explanation.
