BIBLE & BALLS
.
Last Tuesday, (02/18/25), Ranch Matters (RM) published a report tilted “WE’RE NOT A CHURCH FIRST, WE’RE A COMMUNITY FIRST”.
.
NEW DEVELOPMENTS
.
Sunday night (02/23/25), Frank Wood held a special meeting at Twin Rivers Church regarding in part, our above referenced story and the fallout that followed. He explained that he had received phone calls after our article was published asking him “what’s going on” and commented “have I sinned, made a mistake?”.
Apparently some of the callers were shocked and angry and Mr. Wood is hopeful he can clear up any “miscommunication that he might have made.” He further addressed our story referencing the byline: “I think the byline was-something about community is more important then the church or something like that…”.
Frank did state at the HOA meeting “WE’RE NOT A CHURCH FIRST, WE'RE A COMMUNITY FIRST.”
Ranch resident Luann Breeden attended Frank’s Special Meeting and told Ranch Matters that Frank Wood confirmed he had “met with Judy Lapora (Ranch Manager Lapora) weeks ago and I (Frank) said, Judy, I’m speaking out loud here. What if we asked the Association to give us 100K for our Community Center, to be a partner in that, or to be a help in that and that we do that at 25K per year. She (Judy) said I think that would work. I think that makes sense.”
Luann added that Frank also told the meeting attendees that Ranch employee Brenda Cooper talked to Wood after his Sunday Service.Frank: “Brenda Cooper who is the Administrator down at the (HOA) office told me this morning what the (HOA) Board had decided to do-put it up to a vote- send out ballots to all the properties on the Ranch.”
NOTE: Brenda didn’t respond to our request/message seeking a comment.
Luann said, in her opinion, Frank’s meeting should have been conspicuously publicized and open for all of the Ranch property owners to attend because of Wood’s 100K request, linked to Association’s money and the “Community Center.” She questioned the real purpose for Frank’s “14,000 square feet Community Center.
Luann: “Is it going to be a gymnasium for playing ball games-basketball, pickleball and volleyball or a sanctuary”?
“I may be naive, but I believe Frank, if he is a pastor, should be more concerned about saving souls and standing up for what is right in this crazy world and less preoccupied with building what amounts to be a small sports center and with the help of Association money.”
She also would like to know when the Ranch Board of Directors met and decided to send out ballots to the property owners and whether Brenda, who also happens to be a member of Twin Rivers Church, violated any confidentiality rules.
According to Luann there’s more to the story-much more, but that’s for a later report.
