WIDOWS BEWARE

.

“Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of God and Father is this: visit orphans and WIDOWS in their distress…”

(James 1:27)

.

“You shall not afflict any WIDOW or orphan…” (Exodus 22:22)

.

Ranch CC&R Committee Chairperson, Stephanie Proffitt contacted Ranch resident Roxanne today with the following ultimatum:

.

“IF YOU DON’T GET THIS PLACE CLEANED UP TODAY, YOU WILL BE FINED $500.00.”

.

Proffitt gave Roxanne one week.

.

Roxanne is currently paying “$50.00/month” against an earlier fine of $2,000.00 with an associated lien. She told Ranch Matters (RM) she’s at her wits end and feels like the Ranch officials are not being reasonable given her circumstances.

.

Roxanne is 67, widowed and disabled. She’s currently waiting on having her knee replaced and can’t understand why the Ranch leaders are so hell bent on fining her constantly.

.

According to Roxanne, they-Ranch leaders, show “no mercy or compassion” and the stress of fines and liens is overwhelming.

She understands her property is a problem and constantly battles keeping it in compliance.

.

Interestingly, Stephanie Proffitt told Roxanne they have people that can help clean her place up,

“but nobody ever shows up.” “NOBODY”

.

There are at least three churches on the Ranch and we’ve been asked, “where are they?”

Can they help the elderly, the infirmed and disabled residents living under their noses?

Are there any outreach programs offered by any of these churches that demonstrate true Christian values? Are they walking the walk or talking the talk?

Another story for another day.

As an aside, Roxanne’s property was flooded yesterday due to the Water Company’s “water main repair and flushing” process along Shad Road. She’s not upset with the Water Company and understands the circumstances. Her problem is a buried culvert that failed to divert the water from her property.

While talking to Proffitt today, Roxanne mentioned the culvert issue and it fell on deaf ears.

When RM stopped by to interview Roxanne, we caught her, shovel in hand, digging in the dirt looking for her culvert.

“GREAT PLACE TO HANG YOUR HAT”?
