WE GOT SCREWED

2/7/18 4:03 PM

On a 12/31/17, posted story titled, “INTERESTING PHONE CALL.” We reported on our telephone interview with Congressman Greg Walden’s Senior Policy Advisor, Nick Strader regarding the controversy surrounding the Emergency Exit Project/Process.

Our story focused on some serious underlying issues associated with the project along with the residents-voters, not being allowed to cast a vote. Mr. Strader clearly stated the Congressman would be in favor of allowing the residents the right to vote and we reported accordingly.

01/13/18, Early Saturday morning received a phone call from Mr. Strader regarding the above story. He stated in part, that he had heard from unnamed officials complaining about the story and further added we had put the Congressman “in a box.”
Mr. Strader did not ask for a correction or retraction, but wanted the story amended to include the Congressman supports the Emergency Exit Project. I asked Mr. Strader whether or not Congressman Walden knowing now, some of the underlying issues/concerns, still could endorse the project and he suggested we meet personally.

01/16/18, Some Ranch residents met with Mr. Strader at Congressman Walden’s Bend Office. The meeting was scheduled for 1:00 PM and Mr. Strader arrived at about 2:00 PM.
