County Commissioner Kelly Simmelink provided some opening day comments and invited Crooked River Ranch (CRR) residents to make their way down to the Fair and enjoy the events, exhibits, food and live music.

.

Mark Wunsch, Chairperson for the Jefferson County Livestock Association-Auction Committee and County Commissioner Candidate, explained how the sale operates for the participants. Wunsch introduced Ranch Matters (RM) to a couple young ladies-participants,

 Lexi Whitenburg and Emma Richards

Both have steers at the Fair.

Emma Richards told us they will be working with their steers all week and then selling the animals at the auction Saturday.

Mark further explained Saturday’s sale, “Is for all of the kids to market their projects that they’ve been working on all year.”

Wunsch showed us some of the steers and animals that will be sold at the sale Saturday. He stated, “This program is a good way to teach the kids of taking care of these animals, preparing a good product for the customer and learning the process…”
