SPIES, LIES & DEMONIZE?

The current political climate (nationally & locally) is littered with confusion, fear and threats tied to government edicts and mandates. Unpopular opinions, especially related to government responses are being dealt with an Iron Fist.

According to Oregon lawmakers, Oregon is Grand Central Station for militias and extremists groups and have proposed HB 2572 as a mechanism to stop paramilitary activity involving a group of three or more people.

HB 2572, SECTION 2
“Three or more members of a paramilitary organization engaging in a civil disorder.”
“Private paramilitary organization means any group of three or more persons associations under a command structure for the purpose of functioning in public or training to function in public as a combat, combat support, law enforcement or security services.”

In our story,
“THE UN-AMERICAN”
published January 23, 2022, we quoted former Deschutes County District Attorney (DA) John Hummel referring to the People’s Rights Group as “anti-American”, “dangerous” and “repulsive”.
“I would tell them (People’s Rights) they’re an anti-American, dangerous group that repulses me…”

Hummel made the above referenced comments in a story published by Bend Bulletin reporter Garrett Andrews on January 17, 2022.

As Ranch Matters (RM) reported, Hummel’s statements carries the full weight and power of his office. When he speaks people listen. Accusing a group of being “anti-American and dangerous” is bound to find its way into some government surveillance data base.

On January 31, 2021, RM published a story titled,
“SILENT (SP) EYES OF SALEM”
where we asked, does the State of Oregon conduct formalized intelligence activities on its citizens?

We also introduced the Oregon Titan Fusion Center (OTFC) as Oregon’s own particular intelligence center.
According to Titan’s website, “Data fusion involves the exchange of information from different sources-including law enforcement, public safety, health care and the private sector…”

Their mission statement: “OTFC mission is to protect Oregon Citizens from terrorist and criminal activity by providing an all-crimes criminal information. Clearinghouse supported by multiple agencies and a Fusion Liaison Officer (FLO) program.”

Interestingly, a Joint Press Release was issued by the Policy Project, the law firms Cleary Gottlieb and Davis Wright Tremaine LLP on 12/14/21, titled:
“OREGON SUED OVER DOMESTIC SPYING OPERATION.”

The lawsuit was filed against the Oregon Department of Justice (“DOJ”) for its illegal surveillance operation known as the Oregon TITAN Fusion Center.

The Press Release describes TITAN as a domestic spying program operating from the shadows. “TITAN is a covert domestic spying program that collects, retains, analyzes, and distributes so called ‘intelligence products’ on Oregon residents, including law abiding individuals exercising their constitutional rights to speech and assembly.

The Oregon DOJ operates the TITAN spy program completely in the shadows, without statutory authorization or legislative guardrails, in violation of Oregon Law.”

“TITAN is entirely insulated from democratic accountability, and it has repeatedly abused its unchecked power over law-abiding Oregon citizens, said Cleary Gottlieb attorney Jeff Rosenthal.”

“We cannot allow Oregon to become a surveillance state, said Davis Wright Tremaine attorney Tim Cunningham. TITAN’s lawless focus on advocates exercising their constitutional right is an undeniable step in that direction.”

BACK TO HB 2572

RM contacted Kevin Starrett from Oregon Firearms Federation for his thoughts about this bill and former DA Hummel’s statements describing the People’s Rights Group as “anti-American, dangerous and repulsive.”

“The former DA of Deschutes is an out Marxist who I have demonstrated on live TV is a liar. People’s Rights are most certainly in the cross hairs.”
.
“People pushing this are far left militants who openly oppose firearms ownership. This is just another tool to clamp down on dissent.”

Scott Stuart from People’s Rights, told RM, “HB 2572 is just another gun grabber bill by the far left, influenced in Oregon by George Soros, all of his money and the Marxism that has come through that’s permeated every facet of state government and of course that’s what they want to do, is control the people.”

“Their interpretation of HB 2572 and of the militia is so off base. All you need to do is go back to the comments, the letters, the statements that are recorded from the Framers-the Founding Fathers, the 1776 Declaration of Independence, and you get to understand what militia means.

Militia is the citizenry and if a citizenry wants to join together and form their own group of militia for peaceful purposes in order to protect and defend themselves and to defend the United States of America, they have every right to do it.”

“So they twisted this whole thing, because that’s what they do, they twist, the law.”
