REFUSE TO RECUSE?

According to the recently posted January 6, 2020, CRR Work Session Meeting Minutes, Ranch VP Bill Burt read from a prepared statement listing the reasons why the Ranch Board filed the lawsuit against the Water Company.

Burt indicated the Board needed to ratify the lawsuit, which had already been filed and entertained a motion. Director Jerry Cooper, after properly identifying himself, made a “motion to move forward with the litigation.” “It was seconded by Director (Stephanie) Proffitt”, who failed to identify herself and the vote was unanimous.

Ms. Proffitt’s husband, Steve, recently was elected to serve on the Water Company’s Board of Directors.

Should have Director Stephanie Proffitt publicly announced any potential or actual conflicts of interest due to her husband’s Water Board position and the pending lawsuit?

Recused herself?
