Three Jefferson County Deputies, Cory Skidgel, Michael Durkan and Tony Hansen were charged with negligent homicide regarding the death of James Eugene Wippel, an inmate at the jail who died on April 26, 2017.

The deputies trial started on November 26, 2018, before Jefferson County Circuit Court Judge Daina Vitolins.

Ranch Matters has been attending the trial and has heard from State and Defense witnesses, including Sheriff Jim Adkins and Undersheriff Marc Heckathorn.

Today, unexpectedly, the court recessed early to consider a Motion of Acquittal and will reconvene tomorrow at 1:00 PM.
