JEFFERSON COUNTY SHERIFF’S FORUM
DEBATE
Last night’s (4/18/22), Sheriff’s Debate/Candidates Forum was sponsored by the Madras/ Jefferson County Chamber and held at the Jefferson County Community Center. The listed candidates included Sheriff Marc Heckathorn, Rick Dupont and Jason Pollock, however, Dupont was not present.
The event was well attended and moderated by Joe Krenowicz, the Chamber’s Executive Director.
County Commissioners Mae Huston and Wayne Fording attended along with Brantley Foster, Chief Deputy District Attorney and Madras PD Detective Steve Webb, to name a few.
According to Mr. Krenowicz, “35” questions were submitted in advance for consideration, as well as, questions were allowed from the floor/attendees with red tickets.
The format allotted 90 minutes for the debate where an initial coin toss determined who was to “go first” followed by introductions, alternating questions and closing remarks.
Krenowicz reminded everybody: “We all live in a small community, we all go to the same church and probably the same grocery stores, so we like to make sure that any questions or any comments are not derogatory, inflammatory or for that matter, demeaning. Make sure everybody is civil and respectful for everyone.”
Prior to Sheriff Heckathorn’s opening remarks someone from the floor requested that the Pledge of Allegiance be recited.
Pollock’s opening remarks followed Heckathorn’s.
