HOT TOPIC: Shipping Containers
Ranch Matters attended tonight’s Commission Meeting on the Ranch-Standing Room Only.
The Planning Commission Meeting was Chaired by Ranch resident, Cole Gayheart along with fellow commission members, Brian Crow and Roy Hyder.
Interestingly, Chairman Gayheart asked his colleagues, if any of them have any Conflicts of Interest involving tonight’s proceedings and there were none. Jefferson County Planning Director, Jefferson Spencer and Jefferson County Code Enforcement Officer, Tanya Couter rounded out the panel.
Ranch residents were asked to sign in if they wanted to testify and after preliminary remarks by the panel, 16 Ranch property owners testified. Only one Ranch resident, Gary La Casse testified in favor of allowing containers in residential areas.
Ranch President, Carl Harbour, discussed how his personal point of view changed and added the Ranch Board of Directors are “unanimously” opposed to containers.
The Planning Commission VOTED, unanimously, to NOT allow storage containers anywhere within the Ranch residential areas and will forward their decision to the Jefferson County Commission.
The above decision will have no impact on the current rules governing the Commercial Zone on the Ranch or involving any Ranch residents residing in Deschutes County.
