JEFFERSON COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONER’S MEETING ON THE RANCH

Last night’s (9/09/20) meeting was held in MAC PARK and started about 6:00 PM and ended at 7:25 PM.

Commissioners Wayne Fording, Mae Huston and Chair, Kelly Simmelink present along with Michael Baker, County Health Officer, Jeff Rasmussen, County Administrator, Phil Stenbeck, Community Development Director (CDD), County Attorney, Alexa Gassner, Undersheriff, Marc Heckathorn and Executive Administrative Assistant, Lindsay Hessel.

County Chair, Kelly Simmelink followed a prepared AGENDA that included 6 topics plus time for Public Comment.

SOME HIGHLIGHTS:

*The Commission awarded the Terrebonne Community School a check from Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) reimbursement fund

*Robert Townsend from ODOT provided the Terrebonne Update

*County Health Officer, Michael Baker provided a COVID-19 Update

*CDD Director, Phil Stenbeck provided Community Development & Code Enforcement Reports

*Simmelink provided a Panorama Park Update

*Like CRR, the County is upgrading their audio/visual-cameras, in the Commission Chambers

*2020 Census Report

Undersheriff Heckathorn provided a status report involving total Calls/Reports received in Jefferson County & on CRR. Ranch Director, Jerry Cooper commented on speeders in front of his house on Shad and noted the “blinking” electronic speed display sign out front isn’t slowing drivers down.

**NOTE: May 2017, the CRR/BOD voted unanimously on purchasing & installing 3 electronic speed display signs, including the “blinking” speed sign in front of Cooper’s house at a cost of $11, 409.00 (AFE#218).

Cooper requested more patrols and Heckathorn explained manpower shortages and reminded everyone the Sheriff’s Office is currently recruiting reserve deputies.
Cooper indicated an interest in applying for a reserve deputy position and obtained an application.
