Last night’s (9/8/21) meeting was held in MAC PARK and started about 6:00 PM and ended at 7:26 PM.

Commission Chair, Kelly Simmelink with Commissioners Wayne Fording and Mae Huston were  present along with County Administrator Jeff Rasmussen, Public Works Director Matt Powlison

Executive Administrative Assistant Lindsay Hessel.

 

County Chair Kelly Simmelink facilitated the meeting and did not follow any formal Agenda.

 

SOME HIGHLIGHTS:

After Introductions and an update on the Lower Bridge Interchange Project via Cari Carlton from ODOT,

County Health Officer Michael Baker provided a Covid Response Report.

.

Commissioners discussed their concerns regarding Governor Brown’s vaccination mandate and the need for citizens to express their concerns.

Another hot topic discussed by Commissioner Simmelink is the Congressional Redistricting Process. According to Simmelink, this process is in play and one of the proposed maps would possibly gerrymander Jefferson County into Congressman Earl Blumenauer’s District.

Building and Grounds Director, Blake Fonnesbeck provided updates regarding Panorama Park.

The Commissioners fielded several questions from the audience before adjourning.
