REMINDER

Tonight the Jefferson County Board of Commissioners are meeting on CRR in the Juniper Room at 6:00 PM.

“HOT TOPIC”

The disbursement of System Development Charges (SDCs) Funds related to Ranch road projects.

The Commissioners will be discussing how SDC fees can be spent and the types of projects that may qualify.

Does SAFETY related projects trump CAPACITY increasing projects?

According to Jefferson County Public Works Director, Matt Powlison,

“SAFETY NEEDS TIED TO CAPACITY.”

Two projects are on the Commission’s radar. The first project/request, submitted by CRR/ Special Road District (SRD) Chair Sue Haley involves the installation of asphalt aprons on designated Ranch roads. She’s asking for $191,000.

The second project, was not submitted by SRD Chair Haley. Concerned Ranch residents weighed in and asked the Commission to consider using some of the SDC money for the installation of guardrails on Badger Hill Road. As previously reported, Ranch Manager Judy Lapora has stated,

“SOMEBODY’S GOING TO GET KILLED ON BADGER HILL”

However, the Ranch and the SRD has opted to ignore the stated dangers associated with Badger Hill Road in favor of Aprons.

IT’S YOUR MONEY-DO YOU HAVE A SAY?
