“JEFFERSON COUNTY REQUIRES ANY NEW BUSINESS COMING INTO THE RANCH TO RECEIVE A LETTER OF SUPPORT FROM THE BOARD.”

CRR Manager Judy Lapora, 12/20/21, Regular Board Meeting

“ANY NEW BUSINESS”?

At the 12/20/21, Regular Board Meeting, the Directors held a lengthy discussion regarding the Binder Boneyard Owners request for a “letter of support.” The owners presented their case, answered a series of questions from the Board, including Director Julia Randall asking: “What exactly is the County asking for-with needing a letter of support?”

Lapora answered Director Randall’s question: “That’s been standard Julia for a while now, probably 8 or 9 years, where the COUNTY REQUIRES ANY NEW BUSINESS COMING INTO THE RANCH TO RECEIVE A LETTER OF SUPPORT FROM THE BOARD.”

As with many of Lapora’s statements, FACT CHECKING is a serious requirement.

Ranch Matters reached out to Jefferson County Administrator Jeff Rasmussen for some clarification. We asked if there is a requirement forcing “ANY NEW BUSINESS…” to obtain a letter of support from the Ranch Board.

Administrator Rasmussen clarified that the letter of support requirement only applies to businesses within the Commercial Zone Area and not Ranch wide. He referred us to Section 317 of the County Code for further details.
