COVID TESTING

“105 TESTED-1 POSITIVE”

Today, Jefferson County Health Department conducted Free COVID-19 Testing along along with Flu Vaccinations at the Crooked River Ranch Fire Station.

The Fire Station was re-configured to accommodate drive-through testing that only took moments for the actual test. What took time was the actual paperwork.

As the cars lined up, screeners, including Jefferson County Public Health Director, Michael Baker,

Johnathan Courtney, JC INCIDENT COMMAND PLANS CHIEF

Provided the drivers with 3 pages of questions:

COVID-19 Testing Intake Form, Oregon Department of Human Services Race, Ethnicity, Language, and Disability (REALD) Form and Vaccine Administration Record.

The testing was scheduled to begin at 1:00 PM, but due to the heavy turn-out the testing got underway at about 12:30 PM.

Baker explained the type of Test-“Rapid” and how it’s done with a nasal swab that takes seconds to complete. Although the test results only take 15 minutes, the drivers won’t be provided the actual test results until the end of the day.

Baker further explained accuracy issues, public health tracking and symptoms.

At the end of the event, Baker provided the “Unofficial Tally”:

“105 Tested-1 Positive.”

He added, most of the people tested have been contacted with their results.

Baker thanked the Ranch residents and was impressed with their commitment.
