Attended the Jefferson County Commissioner’s Meeting today and one item of interest dealt with the need for a Jail Levy.

The Commissioners and Sheriff Jim Adkins discussed why the Levy is needed and approved this matter to be placed on the November 6, 2018 Ballot.

After the meeting we interviewed Sheriff Adkins regarding the Levy. He explained the operation of the jail and staffing matters of concern.

Sheriff Adkins was up front and honest about why the Levy is needed due in part to an inmate housing agreement with Crook County ending-loss of funds.

Sheriff Adkins is preparing to hit the campaign trail and is hopeful the Jefferson County voters will support the Jail Levy and keep it fully functional.
