On Sunday, 3/10/2024 at around 7:40 pm, the Frontier Regional 911 Center received a report that a plane had crashed in a remote area, 5.5 miles SE of Madras in Jefferson County, Oregon.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office and Jefferson County Fire & EMS, responded to the area. Deputies located the crash with the help of power company officials.

During the initial investigation, deputies were able to determine the plane departed from Aurora Oregon in route to Idaho.

Due to the extent of the crash there were no survivors.

Names and other pertinent details of who was on board will not be released until identity can be confirmed and family is notified.

This will be a lengthy investigation by the NTSB and the FAA to determine the cause of the crash. Further information and inquiries relating to this incident will be directed to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Federal Aviation Administration, and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).
