“OUR FRUSTRATION PERSISTS”

“Our frustration persists. Additionally, we feel our correspondence to you and Director Allen have been PUSHED ASIDE (emphasis added) since we have not heard back from either.”

Jefferson County Commissioner/Chair Kelly Simmelink and his Colleagues are frustrated and yesterday (March 4, 2021), wrote Governor Kate Brown, hoping this time the Governor’s Office will respond. In the letter, the Commission noted, “Our frustration persists. Additionally, we feel our correspondence to you and Director Allen have been pushed aside since we have not heard back from either.”

On January 27, Governor Brown was sent an urgent letter regarding the struggling businesses within Jefferson County. In essence, the Commission was asking Governor Brown to level the playing field and provide all businesses an equal opportunity to participate in the local economy.

GOVERNOR BROWN IGNORED THEIR LETTER

Yesterday’s letter to Governor Brown stressed the current guidelines are not equitable and “the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.”

According to Simmelink, Jefferson County is “one of the most economically disturbed Counties in the whole State.” Businesses are currently “locked into one way of doing business” and are dying.

Simmelink wants his constituents to know they are working hard to get local businesses open and viable.

Other topics covered by Commissioner Simmelink included a COVID report, Commissioner’s Bi-Annual Meeting on the Ranch scheduled for next Wednesday, March 10th at 6:00 PM via zoom and the VAX Clinic at the Ranch Chapel scheduled for March 19th at 11:00 AM.

Not included in Simmelink’s report, but of interest to many on the Ranch, County Code Enforcement Officer Chris Reeves has been activated by the National Guard and unavailable for the time being.
